SUNSCREENS & TANNING
No matter what time of year it is, or
where you live on this vast planet, if your out in the sun, you need sun
protection. A quality sunscreen used over time, can help prevent
premature wrinkles and further sun damage such as skin cancer. So if
your a serious tanner, or tan here and there, or even try to avoid being
in the sun, you need what we have.
There are several ways to fit sun protection into your daily
skincare routine. You can choose an Spf 15 or greater moisturizer
formulated with sunscreen, or you can apply a sunscreen after applying a
moisturizer. I do not recommend Spf foundations as your main sunscreen because they do not
usually contain a high enough Spf level. The sunscreen should be the
last thing you apply to the skin. So if I were going to add this to my
routine, I'd follow the following regimen: cleanse, apply toner,
moisturize then Spf (ie Spf15 moisturizer). If this is to heavy, then
apply the moisturizer over the dry areas of the face only, and then
apply the Spf15 cream over the entire face. We do not recommend
synthetic sunscreens.
Typical Ingredients in
Sun Blocks
You will typically
find chemical sunfilters being used
in other
sun protectors. These ingredients
are:
Oxybenzone, Homesalate, Benzophenone
3,
Octyl Salicylate, Ethylhexyl
Salicylate,
MenthylAnthranilate, Octyl
Methozycinnamate,
Octyl Dimethyl Paba.
You will also
contend
with the many synthetic
preservatives to
enable the product to stay "fresh"
for 3 to
5 years. These ingredients are:
Methylparaben, Propylparben,
Diazolidinyl
Urea, BHA Urea, Imidazolidinyl Urea,
Quatemium 15.
Other
petroleum
by-products will be used in those
typical
sunscreens such as: Mineral Oil,
Octyl
Palmitate, Cyclomethicone, Silicone,
Ispropyl Myristate.
Why not use
a
product that does not rely on
chemicals such
as petroleum. When you think of how
a
women can absorb up to 60% of any
substance
applied to the skin, Natural
Solutions-Holistic Beauty, Body
& Bath can
provide relief with a safe
alternative.
