How Cynthia and her
company, Organic Excellence Chemical Free
Products, started - begins as the story of a
mother trying to help her child and ends
with a successful pharmaceutical sales rep
chucking it all to start a company based on
her daughter’s needs.
With the products she conceived and
developed now featured in Time Magazine,
Woman’s World Magazine, Investor’s Business
Daily, and on Shirley MacLaine's website,
entrepreneur Cynthia Drasler isn’t sure if
that means she’s “made it” or not. But, it’s
a great conversation starter!!
There are no other products on the market
that are chemical free with organic herbs.
But, the real turning point was when
Cynthia’s then two-year old daughter had a
severe reaction to a clown’s face painting.
Thus began an education as Cynthia noted and
researched chemical ingredients in products
used routinely in our homes.
She has appeared on numerous Phoenix TV
shows including Sonoran Living, Good Morning
Arizona, Arizona Midday Show, and The Early
Morning Show. She is fast becoming a local
expert on chemicals in personal care
products and is increasingly sought after as
a speaker. Hers is a classic entrepreneur’s
tale with many ups and downs.
Her path from Arizona to Shirley MacLaine’s
LA based website is full of hard work and
initiative but, it proves that when you want
and need to do something, anything can be
accomplished.
“My conversion from a strong believer in
conventional medicine to a manufacturer of
natural chemical-free products was a slow
process,” notes Cynthia Drasler, CEO and
founder of Organic Excellence Chemical Free
Products.
“The first step was hearing my clients, the
medical oncologists to whom I sold
chemotherapy drugs as a pharmaceutical sales
rep for Bristol Myers Squibb tell me that
more and more cancers are environmentally
caused - that surprised me because of all
the effort we have made as a country to
clean up the environment.”
Yet, it’s true that an
increasing number of studies are linking
pesticides and other synthetic chemicals in
everyday products to an increase risk for
all kinds of diseases from cancer to birth
defects. Because our bodies have no ability
to metabolize these synthetic chemicals,
they slowly build up in the tissues of our
bodies until they overwhelm our immune
system and we get sick. Since the 1940’s
over 80,000 synthetic chemicals have been
invented. Most of them have been created
from petroleum or coal tar, and few of them
have been tested for human safety. But, they
have been added to our food, personal care
and cleaning products anyway.
According to the National Research Council,
“No toxicity information is available for
over 80% of the chemicals in everyday use
products. Less than 20% have ever been
tested for acute toxic effects and less than
10% have been tested for chronic,
reproductive or mutagenic effects.” The few
that have been tested have not been tested
in combination with other chemicals. When
the cumulative effect of combinations of
chemicals stored in the body is studied, a
dangerous synergy is seen. |

Vitamin C
is the most abundant anti-oxidant found naturally in the
skin and is a critical component for simulating the
production of collagen, which is an essential protein
necessary for strong, healthy skin. The collagen protein
is a kind of biological mortar located in the skin's
second layer that forms the foundation for the
underlying skin and keeps it firmer and appearing
younger. Collagen production decreases with age, and
when the level of collagen drops low enough, the
underlying structure of the skin weakens, becomes less
firm, and allows skin sagging and wrinkling to develop.
It is difficult to get a high enough volume of vitamin C
in the skin to start the production of the collagen
protein through diet alone. Experts say that no research
has shown that taking oral vitamin C supplements affects
the aging process of the skin in any way. For the
maximum amount of skin repair and protection, many
studies have shown that vitamin C needs to be topically
applied and absorbed into the skin. Vitamin C cream can
reverse the signs of photo-aging, (one of the processes
that cause a decrease in the production of collagen)
causing skin to wrinkle. Vitamin C is a water soluble
vitamin, meaning that it is not stored in the body. The
body will naturally eliminate any amount of vitamin C
that it doesn't use.

Most conditioners are
specially manufactured with a negative pH which, in
turn, produces a positive electrical charge. When that
comes in contact with the negative charge that naturally
exists on human hair, an electrical bond is formed that
coats each hair. Eventually, that coating becomes too
thick that your hair becomes weighted down and appears
lifeless. At that point most of us require clarifying,
deep cleansing shampoos to remove the build up.
