Keep in mind that applying heavy creams can hinder the body's own healing ability when it has been exposed to the sun. Here are some steps to follow if you have gotten a sun burn:
Treat your skin like you would treat a burn injury - and remove it from any heat source.
Use lightweight lotions as heavy ones will trap the heat in the skin.
Take a cool to slightly cool bath if most of your body has been sunburned
Use a light layer of an aloe vera based gel as it will not trap heat the way creams do
If your burn is serious, go to your nearest hospital emergency room
